Marfa Book Co. PRESENTS A SITE-SPECIFIC INSTALLATION and PERFORMANCES BY AUTUMN AHN and AMANDA MACIEL ANTUNES, the artists’ first visit in their Performance Tour Project. Through this engagement, the artists examine the forms that their work can take in an unfamiliar shared space in the process of producing art. The result is a simultaneous composition that transforms the performative spaces into allegories of its original function.

Autumn Ahn (b. 1986, Philadelphia, USA) is currently a Fellow at the Department of Philosophy at Harvard University. Her conceptual multimedia works and performances use installation, sound, video and works-on-paper. Ahn's project is composed of a series of variations of performances about the subversion of allegorical representation of female bodies in mythologies from history. Thus far, this image has been constructed as a collage of modes of objectification through materials becoming attached to the body. We'd like to take this performance opportunity to expand on that towards the absurd.

Amanda Maciel Antunes (b. 1987, Brazil)  is a multidisciplinary artist currently an artist in residence at The Mine Artspace in Los Angeles, CA. She works in a variety of mediums including installation, imagery, objects assemblage, video, performance, and writing. She has exhibited in Boston, Los Angeles and São Paulo and recently been commissioned works for Lacma space at Art Basel Hong Kong and will be a guest artist this coming Fall at Gamli Skoli in Hrísey, Iceland.
